PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE
After the threat of TC Alfred, our lives can get back into a more normal rhythm, starting with our Club Meeting next Wednesday.  I look forward to seeing as many of you as possible at our Partners Night to swap storm stories and enjoy Paulette's night on Hard Quiz.

A couple quick date reminders.
Registration for the District Conference in Toowoomba close on 21 March. Conferences are a wonderful chance to see what Rotary is achieving locally and internationally, meet like minds, reconnect old friendships and also make some new friends.
Our Christmas in July is on the 12th at Yarraman. Craig, Paulette and Greg will be heading out to reconnoitre the area shortly but I hear they are particularly interested in a lavender farm near Kingaroy which has plenty to see and do. A good time was had by everyone last year and I certainly encourage everyone to think about coming along. It always amazes me how making a simple change every now and then of my daily routine heightens my enjoyment of living.

Lastly, with the passing of Bill Hankinson I was reminded of the strength of our Club.
Many of you visited Bill at the Maleny Hospital and also showed Marlene and the Family in how much regard Bill was held through the attendance of so many Maleny Rotarians at his Funeral and Wake, the simple heartfelt words by Jim Atkinson and the beautiful slices.

The world would be a better place if this spirit could be bottled and passed around!

MINUTES OF MEETING OF 19TH FEBUARY
This was a Club business meeting.  There were free ranging discussions on a number of topics.

Greg W reported that there was news coverage in the GC&M News regarding our donation of generators to Ukraine. He also mentioned that we need to supply an accurate internal measurement of our storage shed to allow for the internal fit-out. Arrangements for “Christmas in July” are proceeding which will include a visit to a winery.

Pres Scott advised:
- registration for the District Conference to be held on 28-30 March in Toowoomba closes on Feb 21st.
- Bill H is unable to accept visitors at the moment.
- We will be catering again at the Motor Cycle Swap Meet and we need helpers for 14-15th March with Roly N organising.
- PETS will be held on 12 April at St Columban’s in Caboolture.
- He attended the recent Police Action meeting and advised local focus is on Domestic Violence, Youth Crime particularly drugs and that 6000 RBTs are due to be conducted in Maleny this year.

Sue C is looking to produce a second “Red Bench” with Maleny High Interact Club.

Lionel T advised that calendars sales went well this year and it was time to start the process again; he was looking for a couple of new committee members to help.

Paulette S reported that RYDA is on again in July; it is still popular with 1400 participating in the program last year. This activity has been adding value for young people for 17 years now.

Neil A said that Rotary will be looking after the Sausage Sizzle on Clean Up Obi Obi Creek day on Sunday March 2nd in Tesch Park.

Ric T suggested that we look to building a bench for the Main Street in conjunction with the Maleny Men’s Shed.

Chris B did his normal outstanding Sergeant’s session and told half truths to extract money from members.
