MEETING OF 4TH JUNE
President Alan welcomed all members and their partners and promised an interesting night.  He mentioned a couple of recent and upcoming events including the Changeover, thanked all for their support during the Maleny Show and asked for any other news. He also welcomed our Spanish exchange student Adria, who was to speak to us later in the night.

John W proposed a vote of thanks to John and Bernice for their ongoing organisation of the Show Food Stall which was passed by acclamation.

Jeff C then gave a slide presentation of his motorcycle journey across America via Route 66. Very interesting and quirky glimpse of American life. Long way to go on two wheels for a photo shot.

We all enjoyed a delicious dinner before Chris B fined most of us for various dubious crimes and some that defied fantasy land. The lucky number card prize was won by Malcolm B.

Meal over, Rick V introduced our guest speaker Adria Roset de Mas to speak on his expectations, observations and goals over the last 11 months. His intent was to get to know the Australian people as much as possible via visits to friends and with his four host families. Goals including surfing, seeing the outback, playing football etc. Much nodding of heads ensured that those in the audience, if a bit younger, would like to have joined him.

Rick V then thanked him for his insights into his stay and, by way of thanks, presented him with an R.M Williams sleeveless jacket on behalf of the Club, as a memento of his exchange with us.

Then we took another 10 minutes getting into a group huddle for a memorial photo with Adria. Ric T promised to tidy up the photos if all were sent to him for processing and improvement.

Pres Alan concluded with thanks, reminding all to drive home safely and see you at the next meeting.

AND NOW FOR SOMETHING DIFFERENT
ANNUAL TAX RETURN

With the end of the financial year fast approaching, the Australian Tax Office has emphasised the importance of accuracy in your tax return.

The ATO has returned the Tax Return to a man in Townsville after he apparently improperly answered one of the questions.

In response to the question, "Do you have anyone dependent on you?"

The man had written:

    "2.1 million illegal immigrants,
    1.1 million crackheads,
    4.4 million unemployable scroungers,
80,000 criminals in over 85 prisons,
    plus 450 idiots in Parliament,
    thousands of 'retired politicians', and
an entire group that call themselves 'Senators'."

The ATO stated that the response he gave was "unacceptable".

The man's response back to ATO was,  "Who did I leave out?"
