MEETING OF 15th AUGUST
President Alan opened the meeting with a welcome to members in general and a special welcome to Paulette and Peter who were talking on "My Story".
The Club Assembly of 22nd of August would deal with the the final preparations for the car parking for the National Cross Championships at the Precinct.
Bernice was still looking for volunteers for marshalling a charity bike ride on 6th October which aims to raise funds for Care Flight.
Rick Vickers then gave an excellent power point presentation on his recent visit to his daughter and family in Costa Rica. With a series of striking photographs, he revealed a very different country and life style compared with the Sunshine Coast. I doubt if any attending will complain about locally flooded roads again!
Members were spared the normal assault from a surprisingly benevolent Sergeant.
After the meal we were treated to two interesting personal presentations from Peter and Paulette who have both had varied lives. John Whan gave the vote of thanks noting, as is frequently the case, that our most interesting speakers were our own members.
NATIONAL CROSS COUNTRY CHAMPIONSHIPS
Every picture tells a story.
Congratulations to our organisers Chris B and Rick V and to their many helpers. This was the first time that we have used the Beersheeba Field for parking.
The donations raised were sent to the Drought Relief Appeal for Queensland Farmers.

A MECHANIC AND A CARDIOLOGIST
A Lexus mechanic was removing a cylinder head from the motor of a LS460 when he spotted a well-known cardiologist in his shop.
The cardiologist was there waiting for the service manager to come and take a look at his car when the mechanic shouted across the garage, "Hey, Doc, want to take a look at this?"
The cardiologist, a bit surprised, walked over to where the mechanic was working. The mechanic straightened up, wiped his hands on a rag and asked, "So Doc, look at this engine. I opened its heart, took the valves out, repaired or replaced anything damaged, and then put everything back in, and when I finished it worked just like new.

So, how is it that I make $48,000 a year and you make $1.7M when you and I are doing basically the same work?"
The cardiologist paused, leaned over, and then whispered to the mechanic...
"Try doing it with the engine running."
