MINUTES OF LAST MEETING
The Annual Community Grants Awards Night was held at Tranquil Park.  We thank the Glasshouse Country and Maleny News for the following article.

TS CENTAUR COMMANDING OFFICER'S ANNUAL REPORT
• All TS Centaur Cadets are currently participating in the training for the Kokoda Challenge with six having been selected as candidates for the final team of four. It has been pleasing to see significant improvement in the fitness of many. We thank the Maleny RSL for their generous support by donating $400. We have received $400 from Maleny RSL, $100 from Quota and $50 from the Maroochy Waters Naval Association plus several personal donations. We have now reached the initial target but if anyone would like to boost the fund raising you can go to https://www.kokodachallenge.com/fundraisers/tscentaurmshs and donate online.
• ANZAC Day went very well with many favourable comments from RSL Members and the general community. We slept over at the unit the night before in order to ensure that everyone was at the RSL on time for the Dawn Service. Following this service we returned to the unit for breakfast and then proceeded to the Witta Cemetery, Maleny Soldier’s Memorial Hospital, Street March and finally the morning service at the Maleny RSL.
• On May 14th TS Centaur Staff and Cadets participated in the AHS Centaur Memorial Service at St Andrew's in Lutwyche. TS Centaur is named after the Hospital Ship Centaur which was torpedoed and sunk by a Japanese submarine off Cape Moreton Queensland on May 14th 1943 with the loss of 268 lives. The 64 survivors were rescued by the American Destroyer USS Mugford.
• We are currently planning our activities for the Maleny Show. We will be having a Mexican Food Stall as we have had for the past two years. This has proved a successful fund raiser for TS Centaur. The Cadets are keen to make the most of this event as a recruiting opportunity and at last night’s parade came up with some great ideas to highlight the activities of Cadets.
• A Start Powerboating Course for Cadets is being held at TS Bundaberg in July.
• Last week Eddie and I were interviewed by Judy Fredriksen who has now composed an article for the June edition of the Hinterland Times. We hope that this may generate interest from prospective staff.
• As Eddie and I will be resigning from the Australian Navy Cadets at the end of this year finding replacement Staff is now a priority.

AND NOW FOR SOMETHING DIFFERENT
AND YOU THOUGHT YOU WERE HAVING A BAD DAY!!

1. The average cost of rehabilitating a seal after the Exxon Valdez oil spill in Alaska was $80,000.
At a special ceremony, two of the most expensively saved animals were released back into the wild amid cheers and applause from onlookers.
A minute later, in full view, they were both eaten by killer whales.

2. In 1992, Frank Perkins of Los Angeles made an attempt on the world flagpole-sitting record.
Suffering from the flu he came down eight hours short of the 400-day record, meantime his sponsor had gone bust, his girlfriend had left him and his phone and electricity had been cut off.

3. A woman came home to find her husband in the kitchen, shaking frantically with what looked like a wire running from his waist towards the electric kettle.
Intending to jolt him away from the deadly current, she whacked him with a handy plank of wood by the back door, breaking his arm in two places.
Until that moment, he had been happily listening to his iPod.

4. Two animal rights protesters were protesting the cruelty of sending pigs to a slaughterhouse in Bonn, Germany. Suddenly the pigs, all two thousand of them, escaped through a broken fence and stampeded, trampling the two hapless protesters to death.

And finally...

5. Iraqi terrorist, Khay Rahnajet, didn't pay enough postage on a letter bomb.
It came back with "Return to Sender" stamped on it. Forgetting it was the bomb, he opened it and was blown to bits.

THERE NOW!  YOUR DAY'S NOT SO BAD, IS IT?
