MINUTES OF LAST MEETING
President Alan opened the meeting.  He thanked Bernice and John for all their work at the Maleny Show.  Also thanked all the members and partners for their participation and support.  A special thanks to the bakers of the pumpkin soup, slices and the home baked goodies.

- Monday night 10th June for the Star Gazing.  Bring your own mug.  (Since postponed).

- Invite to the Club to attend the Hydrotherapy Centre information Monday night.

- ADG Linda gave a talk inviting our members to the District Changeover.

Jim Atkinson thanked everyone on the gate at the Maleny Show.

Rick Vickers again thanked John and Bernice for their tireless efforts at the Maleny Show.  He also called for volunteers to assist with the installation of the new Mary Cairncross Park bench seats.

Our Guest Speaker was Sue MacKenzie from Polio Australia who was accompanied by husband Graeme.










She spoke about Polio Australia and Polio survivors in Australia. Polio Australia warmly acknowledges the great work achieved by Rotary International and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation  through its Polio Plus Program in helping eradicate the incidence of poliomyelitis throughout the world. 

There are approximately 400,000 Australian survivors of polio still living. Polio Australia supporting polio survivors and those suffering from the late effects of polio which was described.  She made us aware that Polio Australia needs help!

Sue also shared that she is a survivor of Polio herself and she contracted the disease at 2 years old.  She explained the difficulty and the prejudice against sufferers.

Laurelle proposed the vote of thanks for her very informative talk and presented her with our Rotary bag.

The meeting closed and everyone made a bee-line to watch State of Origin.
